Regardless, it's awesome, for several reasons.

One of the main reasons that this is an awesome album is because i feel that Modest Mouse have finally found themselves, they're far more comfortable with their sound than they ever have been and i think that's because of the addition of Mr.Johnny Marr (the ex Smiths guitarist). One of my favorite tracks on the album is Steam Engenius, which you can listen to here.

One thing i love about Modest Mouse is how wacky they are, their sound is kind of like hillbilly crazy but with gritty down to earth sounds. I always say that if you take Modest Mouse instruments away from them, they'd play on pots and pans and i reckon that's especially true in the case of this album, they just ooze the raw primal passion of wanting to create music no matter how they make it. You can tell they're having lots of fun, too.

Give them and particularly this album a listen!

Who watches the Watchmen?

:O.

That's basically my review, but i shall elaborate regardless.

Being someone who hasn't read the comic (i know, i know, shoot me now) i didn't know what to expect from this movie going in there. In fact being someone who has seen the comic around and looked at the art and decided to put it back on the shelf due to the art, i was very much hoping to like it regardless of the comic. And boy did I. From the opening scene i was hooked, it's dark, it's gritty and the music is totally in your face. The soundtrack IS excellent, even if it feels a little awkward fitting in places, you can't doubt there's some damn good songs in there. I've heard a lot of people complaining that the movie doesn't follow the comic to it's entirety, i'll be reading the comic just to find out what in fact is different and to be fair on the people that have read the comic, i understand why you would be annoyed. But you can't deny that it's a brilliant film regardless of any changes that there may be and as far as i can tell, the characters themselves are perfect. I know it's by default everyone loves Rorschach but he is utterly awesome and the actor that played him is brilliant.

I won't give you any spoilers with this post, but i do urge you to see it. Ignore any bad criticism, ignore any good criticism, hell ignore everything i've typed here and just see it and make your own opinion of it yourself. But i promise you'll like at least some aspect of this film and for me personally, i loved it all.

Holy over enthusiasm, Batman!

So as i was stumbling around some web pages that were just getting in the way on the internet of stairs, i came across some old Adam West Batman clips. In every single clip, Robin can't help but find something to say "Holy..." about, in one instance Batman's being attacked by a shark and Robin's all "HOLY SARDINES!" For one, Robin, that's not really relevant. It's a shark. And two, what the hell?! If my buddy was being attacked by a shark i wouldn't shout holy sardines, i'd be all "HOLY FUCKNUTS, WHAT THE SHIT, HOW IS THERE EVEN A SHARK EXISTING IN MANCHESTER?!" But definitely not holy sardines.

Take a look.

Golden Oldies

I'm a huge fan of old films and tv shows from the 40s, 50s and the entire era associated with them. I've recently become quite addicted to watching old 1950's What's My Line? Clips on youtube. Despite the fact there being a British version i find myself quite comfortable with the American panelists and host. I haven't even seen the British version yet, actually.

What's My Line? Was a weekly game show hosted by John Daly from 1950-1967, the show had four panelists each week who had to guess the the line of work that the numerous guests dealt in by asking them a series of questions. There would also be mystery guests where the panel would have to be blindfolded, because usually the guest was very well known in the movie world, tv world or theatre world. Ocassionally tricks would be played on the panelists and the guest would be a member of their family or a close friend. The panel consisted almost regularly Arlene Francis, Dorothy Kilgallen, Bennet Cerf and Steve Allen. Steve being replaced by Fred Allen in later episodes.Ocassionally there would be guest panelists from Arlene's husband Martin Gabel, but ocassionally an actor, actress or comedian of the time, such as Groucho Marx. I mean how brilliant is that? Groucho friggin' Marx! The reason i adore this show though is because of the relationship the panel and moderator John Daly have with each other, they all get along great and you can sense how good friends they all are. Arlene Francis is brilliant and another reason why i love the 50's is for the glamour of the women, Arlene Francis was definitely glamorous. Nobody's up their own arse about anything though, which you find a lot of these days, it just seems like more simple times back then, everyone's nice and they all look great.

I used to watch a lot of Laurel and Hardy growing up and old silent movie era stuff of the 20's, i adored it and later years i realised Laurel and Hardy weren't the only entertainers of their kind. Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd and Charlie Chaplin of course were also huge stars i just didn't appreciate how big until i was a little older. I think anything looking back on simpler times i can't help but admire. The Marx Brothers and Abbott and Costello are also friggin' brilliant and i stumble upon a lot of their stuff on youtube. There's a famous Abbott and Costello sketch called "Who's on first" that you just HAVE to see. Even if you're not interested in any of this stuff, i urge you to see it, in fact here's a friggin' link. I'm heavily into old film noir films, too. I think one of the reasons i studied photography in college was mainly because of these old films, especially dealing with black and white. There's a brilliant noir film called The Third Man starring Orson Welles that has a pretty famous theme tune attached to it that even if you've never seen the film, you'll know the music. The film's set in Vienna, mostly at night time, so you see a lot of drop shadow effect and a lot of tricks to enhance the brick of the floor which they did by spraying water over it, street light glistens off the brick kind of thing. Brilliant. I think my whole point i'm trying to make is...people are right when they say they don't make things like they used to. But it's always lovely to remember.

Scanners

So last night i watched Scanners, because i haven't for a few years and i recently saw Total Recall again on TV. The connection there is Michael Ironside who plays Richter in Total Recall. In this film he plays a "scanner" called Darryl Revok, now Revok's pretty evil. I think Michael Ironside is best suited for dark, sinister characters, in Total Recall as Richter it was more a parody of an evil henchman but in this, he's the head honcho. He shines a bit more.

Scanners is a David Cronenberg sci-fi classic from 1981. The premise of the story is that there's a number of people in the American population that have the ability of telekinesis and telepathy, only on a much huger scale when they focus their energy. For instance if they focus their energy on a particular body part they can make it explode into a big bulbous puss, or stop a heart beating...which i could've said first, but it's far less interesting to say. The film starts with our hero Cameron Vale(played by Stephen Lack) walking around a shoppin centre picking up food that's bean left on trays, looking dishevlled and being a total bum. A few ladies across the table from him whisper how tragic it is and he finds himself inadvertently scanning one of the ladies. The lady falls to the floor having what looked like a vicious seizure, Cameron is spotted by two goons who tranqualize him and chase him down. Where he's taken to Doctor Ruth (the late Patrick McGoohan) who tells Cameron that he is a scanner and he wants him to help him stop another scanner called Darryl Revok(Ironside)who is finding scanners to form an army against people without the ability. Anybody who refuses, Revok is killing.

This is a pretty cool film, Ironside totally makes it for me, though, he's brilliant and the scene where he gets asked out of an audience at a scanner demonstration event and literally blows up the head of the other guy is brilliant. The way he says "i didn't do anything" is just so nonchalant, like if he was just an ordinary guy he wouldn't care too much that this dude's head blew up.

Go watch!

Part 1: Quantum Leap

When i was a kid, me and my sister used to watch a little show called Quantum Leap, you may have heard of it, cos' it's probably one of the most awesomest shows ever. I think this show and Back To The Future (coming in Part 2) is what sparked my interest in time travel. I think everyone naturally has a fascination with time travel to some degree.

Anwyho, Quantum Leap(1989-1993) follows scientist, Dr.Samuel Beckett (not to be mistaken for the writer and poet of the same name, but man that'd be cool) as he conducts an experiment that goes..."a little caca". Now our dear Doctor Beckett discovered the ability to time travel over at Quantum Leap headquarters, which was being funded by the government, but with no real proof or tests the government drop out of the funding leaving Sam to decide to take matters into his own hands and jump into the quantum accelerator. He awakes in the past, not knowing who or where he is, having amnesia from the travel. Now this is pretty daunting in itself, but then Sam realises that the face he sees in the mirror isn't his own and he starts seeing a strange man that nobody else seems to notice. This man turns out to be Al, a colleague on project Quantum Leap observing Sam from the headquarters in the future to help give him advice, he tells Sam that something went wrong and they can't bring Sam back to the future. Of course Sam doesn't believe any of this and thinks he's just going crazy.

Throughout the series we go on a journey with Sam as he begins to rebuild his memories of who he is, but also we go on a more deep journey with Sam as he tries to help people and change their lives for the better. Every time Sam "leaps" he becomes a person who had some wrongdoing happen to them in the past, so with the help of Al and everyone back in the future, he tries to correct it, ultimately so he can try get back home. Now Sam can't leap beyond his timeline, from the time he was born to the time he leaped in the future but there was one rare incident where he leaped into his own grandfather. Because it was so far in the past, Al had trouble finding him to observe his progress. It's little things like that which really fascinate me about this show. There has also been a rival project set up in the future which has "evil leapers" which is just damn cool, especially because Sam seems to be able to see them "leap" which in itself is one of the best special effects ever.

If you've never seen an episode of Quantum Leap i think you should at least once in your lifetime, as a kid i used to play with calculators and pretend they were Ziggy, that's how into it i was. That's also how big of a nerd i am. But really, the show's been released on DVD the past couple of years and i highly reccomend you buy it, the time travel element is almost secondary to the personal journey Sam goes on, you get very attached to Sam and you can't but hope that every leap Sam will be home.

Future Lee

So a long time ago...literally, i think at least 3 years ago, i was going to post about TV shows and Movies featuring the element of time travel. I never got round to it, probably because back then my pc was a piece of crap and kept crashing before i could post and i know i should've saved it as a draft but i was using a program called Performancing. That program is now called Scribefire, but...it doesn't work nearly as nicely.

Anywho, i'd like to extend my interest to BOOKS also. Because a few months ago i read Night Watch by Terry Pratchett and it's by far my favourite in the watch series. I'm on for Thud! at the moment, but i'm taking it a little slow, ridiculous and utterly sacraligous is the fact that...i wish i was carrying on with Harry Potter right now. I know, i know, i ADORE Pratchett even more so than J.K. But because i've recently read The Chamber Of Secrets i just want to carry on.

So, without further trepidation i give to you...Opium. (Haha not really. Obscure Matt Berry reference there for anyone who knows.) I think i'm going to have to write this in parts, so check back soon for part 1! Think of this as a teaser, not that any of you are reading this anyway but wahey!

Also, speaking of Matt Berry...when is he going to release his third album titled "Witch Hazel" ? I've been listening to Opium like a madman, which you should also be doing. Right now.

Whut?! For a while now i've been watching a few internet tv show's over at Revision3's channel on youtube. My two favourite's being Diggnation and the Totally Rad Show.

Now Diggnation is basically two guys sitting on a couch, Alex Albrecht and Kevin Rose discussing the news on social site Digg.com. Any new item that gets quite a considerable amount of "diggs" or is just generally cool get's featured on the show. But the thing is the news is secondary to these two guys just chatting and generally having a great chemistry, occasionally they'll drink a beer and i found myself over Christmas watching them with a beer in my hand and feeling like these guys would probably great to hang out at a bar with. I could probably teach them a few things about a good beer, too. I recommend you go check it out.

OK, so the Totally Rad Show is another show that stars Alex Albrecht, along with Jeff Cannata and Dan Trachtenberg (i'm not even looking these guys names up, by the way, i've watched their shows so much i'm almost 100% sure this the correct spelling. I'm testing myself, almost.) The content of TRS consists of game reviews, movie reviews, now and again comic book reviews and again general banter between the three guys, who again have great chemistry. I think Dan is the youngest and sometimes i don't think Alex and Jeff give him enough time to talk, i find myself thinking "aww, Dan...they just shot you the hell down, man." Sometimes he can go off on a tangent and the other two guys laugh at him but i'm thinking, you know, Dan's alright. I hope it doesn't upset him much, he seems like he's having fun anyway. But the the thing that really interests me about this show is the entirely unbiased opinions, being three guys reviewing certain things, be it games or movies they all have their own thoughts on things and that's what you want to see. In fact they reviewed Taken a few weeks back and that totally made me want to watch the film from their three different angles.

There are other things on the Revision3 channel that may be worth your time to have a looksie at. Revision3 also have a website here so you can see what other stuff they're upto. Other shows of note are, Scam School and Tekkzilla.

Adios, amigos!

We need more old school gaming action.

How awesome would this be if it were an actual game? There'd always be something in the way of my mouse to the point where i'd get so frustrated with the constant whacking into things that i'd just go and read a book instead.

Here's a picture of my desk. As you can see it's pretty small, PC tower on the left, my Mac monitor, sub woofer, then PC monitor on the right with Mac and External Hard Drive behind it, also Mac keyboard and mouse on the left. Now that's not a lot of stuff, but trust me, it is for this desk. Now here's all the stuff that was on my desk previous to that picture. I'm not really too keen on things being shoved in my face that shows me how many people are with somebody, especially today. But the thing is even if i was with somebody, i don't see why i wouldn't be able to be romantic whenever the fuck i wanted. Why do i have to be told to be so on a specific day? As if i hadn't been this whole time?

Today was fun, i got to go see the Leonardo drawings at the gallery with my friend Kerry, i also had to buy some bananas and plums while i was out and only realised as i was going home how suggestive that must've looked. Me just walking around with bananas and plums. On Valentines day. Fuck.
But WOAH Leo's drawings were epic, as i expected them to be, but my god...up close, i'd never seen anything by Leonardo Da Vinci up close before and i think i knew this would probably be only one of the few chances i'd be able to get to. I looked at those drawings in, mostly, a very mechanical sense. I wanted to see his technique, i wanted to see every little line that he did to create a drawing, even if they were only his sketchbook drawings and not full on paintings, i wanted to see the brilliance. And the brilliance was there. I felt that if i somehow looked at those drawings up close, then i'd know exactly where to proceed on my line of sketching. Of course nothing ever works out just like that, does it? It's not even remotely the best album i've ever listened to, but it's still damn good. Fleet Foxes have a very distinct sound that can't help but make me smile, they sound melodic, but folky. Sometimes their group singing sounds almost like a choir, it brings calm and makes me feel altogether rather peaceful. Watch this. I've only shown these to one other person so far and i'm not particularly fond of them, but it'd be good to just put them up here and see my failure every now and again so i can get on the road to improving.

Ok so this guy pretty much has over exagerated features, big chin, big nose, big lips. Now the thing about the lips is that they are in every single little "speed" doodle i do, i just can't get past the lips, it might be because i have particularly fat lips myself (does that make them kissable? I have no idea.) But either way, it's really silly. And oh crap, i can't seem to add another picture to my post for some reason... so i'll just throw this second picture here.

Now that guy, i think i was trying to figure out a way of drawing "myself" as a concept for a story i'm wanting desperately to put to paper when i'm actually good enough to do so, so as you see, he's not that great and i need to just keep going until i'm happy cos' i'm really not happy right now with my shtuffs. (Not entirely, but i did drink quite a bit) during this time i was introduced to the lovely and exciting world of Belgian Beer thanks to the two pubs near the towns old market. More recently, i decided to show my friend Chris what he's missing out on by finding any pub that happens to sell Belgian beer here in Manchester, although there's not as wide as a selection as the specifically Belgian pubs in Altrincham, there are still a few places where you can get a good beer.

One of my favourite Belgian beers of all time is the St.Feuillien Triple. Although it's moderately low in alcohol percentage considering other Belgian beers at 8.5% it's still far higher than any pansy drink you can find on tap in your local pub...Carling, what the fuck is wrong with you? And why the hell do people think they need to drink that crap? I know you all hate it. Get some nice tasting beer down ya, lad!

Another beer which seems to be quite easy to find in most places here in Manchester is Leffe Blonde, and sometimes it's counterpart Leffe Brun(slightly higher at 9%) the blonde actually in my opinion has a slightly more metallic taste than the Brun (i know that sounds silly and everyone disagree.) Straight away with the Brun, though, you can taste the power!

Also quite abundant in many pubbes is Chimay, coming in 3 lovely flavours. White, Red and Blue. Blue being the strongest at 9% Lovely refreshing tasting beer, but if you've had a few Belgian beers already in the night, the Blue can lay a bit heavy on your stomach. So i'd reccomend the White or Red at that point.

So go out there, find a pub that sells Belgian beer (or find some in your local supermarket) and get boozing! You'll enjoy it, trust me.

Holy Shitfuck Batman!

Oh man oh man oh man,

What the hell am i doing here you may ask? If anyone i once knew even knows i'm here or was once here or what the frak ever (we've been through this before and again, Katy, if you're watching...i think maybe it's been 45 years this time.)

SO yeah, lots of shiznit has happened since my last post, the most prominent thing was that i was made redundant, much like almost everybody else ever in this country. And it's proving to be a real struggle getting back into work, but i'm not giving up hope.

Also i've been drawing a lot more and i'm improving to a point where i'm finally feeling comfortable with my drawings, everything else before this point is all shoddy and crapalicious. It's how it usually goes, though, when i FINALLY get to my ultimate super drawing form (rawwr!) then everything before that will also be crappy. But ooooo, i got some new awesome pens and stuff for quick sketching and i bought a couple of Moleskine's which aren't completely neccessary, they just look pretty. And putty rubbers(quiet, America.) are the gods gift to any wannabe artist, buy some NAO! By the way, speaking of drawing and stuffs you should all visit conceptart.org's forums and look at the sketchbook section, it's really giving me a big boost in getting my arse moving to improve. Someday i will post my sketchbook on that forum...and it will be glorious.

In other news....DOCTOR MADUCKIN' WHO, Y'AAL! Controversial as this may sound, i actually like the look of the new Doc', i think he'll fit it quite nicely...however, i'm gonna miss Tennant like a sonofabitch. i heart that man...i heart that man so hard *sobs*. I was thinking also for the NEXT Doctor (yes i'm already thinking way ahead more than the rest of the country) we should have Derren Brown. C'mon you know that's the most awesomest idea eva.

Peace out yo.

Mac OS X Leopard

Firstly, the majority of the post won't actually be about OS X (oh i love you so much baby...what's that? You love me too? Oh you *blush*) but it'll actually just be a quick update me wise, not that any of you are interested and not that this is a bloody diary, but there you go.

So anyway, work is shite. Looking back on previous posts i've made to this blog i can't believe how naive i was and i took my old job for granted, yeah it was bullcrap but there was hardly any crazy office politics going on like we have at this place now, it's madness. I went into this job about a year ago now feeling really upbeat and ready for anything, i surprisingly became extremely interested in it quickly. And for a while all was good. We got a new boss a while back and again, you know, slightly different, but...all was good. Until lots of shit happened one day OUT SIDE of work that somehow began to affect the working environment for me, i can't go into much detail in case anyone's looking in on this BUT HOLY SHIT IF SOMEONE CRIES TO THE MANAGER ABOUT SHIT GOING ON OUTSIDE OF WORK IT HAS FUCK ALL TO DO WITH THE JOB YOU'RE DOING NOW, SO WHY THEN DOES THE MANAGER SEARCH YOUR COMPUTER WITHOUT PERMISSION FOR EVIDENCE OF THINGS AGAINST YOU. Not that there was any evidence anyway, but fuck...after that it all went down hill for me, then to top it off the manager then becomes best friends with the person that caused all this shit. Ever since then i've really had zero motivation to do the work and i mean it's not just me that isn't happy with things going on there, but i'm really just about ready to pack my bags and leave. Anyone reading this who have job vacancies going...you're not gonna hire me at all, cos' i sound like a cock, but you know, i'll hand you a CV anyway.

Awesome news recently, though, my sister gave birth to a little baby girl named Lyla! She's lovely and sleeps a lot. Double the awesome news is that my brother's girlfriend also gave birth to a little baby girl! She's called Leah and sleeps even more than Lyla, but they're both lovely, healthy little babies. So i'm totally a big fat uncle right now, it's amazing.

In other Mac OS X related news, i've recently decided to go "zomg themez!!!" crazy and try to get a load of stuff to make Leopard all cool looking...only, the only thing that seems would be able to do this for me "ShapeShifter" isn't currently available for Leopard, only Tiger. What the fuck? Why the hell not?! And why isn't it easy to make a version that's available on Leopard RIGHT NOW? I want my themez and shiznit(i don't actually talk like this) damnit!

Bloggin' whilst my mind is foggin'

YO!!!

I'm not entirely sober right now, but i'm going to tell you of a little dream i had, i mean i have no idea what exactly it means but maybe you do because you read "Dream Interpretation" books, but maybe you don't, either way, here i go.

So i'm a big fan of Battlestar Galactica and have been trying to find episodes of Season 4 online. But anyway, i fell into a dream one drunken night (yesterday.) And came upon a train station, within this station there were giant TV's and lots of people rushing everywhere, i could hear something on the giant TV in the background of...i'm not entirely sure what, if i suggested something it'd be the biggest guess ever, but it seemed like a man had set fire to himself or something. But anyway, there was a man close by to me who was quite tall, he was watching this news and shouted "WHAT THE FRACK IS HE DOING?!?!?!!?!!" to which i said "i'm glad you said frack, because it means you're a Battlestar Galactica fan." Because of this he seemed quite happy and told me to come and meet his friend, his friend just happened to be some kind of manager for a wrestling company and was currently hosting an event which consisted of 50 or so wrestlers waiting to duke it out in a big ring in the middle of the station. I got close to the ring and there were two wrestlers already battling it out, there was a small speedy little guy and a big, grufty, beefy guy. The beefy guy tried to run in the ring but got stuck on the ropes making him spin a few times and because of this the small speedy guy won by default...it was probably the best wrestling match ever. Anywho big tall BSG fan beckoned his friend over, who proceeded to punch me in the stomach at least 42 times within 2 seconds, it hurt like shit, but i didn't show him this. He claimed i had amazing resilience but i'd be a crap wrestler. Afterwards he began to quiz me on Battlestar Galactica, the quiz actually had no relevance to the show whatsoever other than the characters he mentioned having the same names

StumbleUpon

Like my previous post, i'm all for promoting add-ons and plugins to various things and here's another one for you that personally i use every single day.

StumbleUpon (stumbleupon.com) is a plugin for Mozilla Firefox that allows you to select categories of interest for different kinds of website's and information you're particularly keen on. Say you're into Arts or Graphic Design, just tell that to stumbleupon and it will search for pages in the category for you, press the little "Stumble!" button and off it goes to a random website of your interest.

It's pretty cool, you can choose whether you like the site you've been sent to or if you dislike, with the thumbs up and thumbs down buttons. StumbleUpon then remembers what you like and dislike and learns from your choices to bring you more fresh content. As i said i use it everyday and i can just sit back and keep pressing that stumble button until something takes my fancy. Give it a go!

iLike

If you're into music, which i'm sure at least some of you are (what...musical creativity isn't THAT mainstream, pshaw!) then get your arses over to a little site called iLike.com

iLike attaches itself to your iTunes main window and looks through your iTunes library like a puppy searching for it's favourite bone, it then allows you to meet new friends based on your music tastes! It also recommends new music for you based on your current selected favourite artists. When using this little gizmo it shows the rest of the community what you're currently listening to and what's in your playlist, it's a pretty nifty site and i've been using it for quite some time, at first i was all "Oh god this is cool!" but now that's worn off a little and i barely notice it when i'm listening to my music, now, but it's still pretty cool. I'm sure it has some "Facebook" or "Myspace" thing that you can add it to aswell, which all you social networking sluts may be interested in! Before we left work, Phil decided he'd go grab us some food from the local KFC, when he came back he handed me a family sized bucket, obviously being a lot of chicken and two of us the logical assumption of course is that this is a bucket you're sharing, you don't even think about it, you just naturally know you're sharing a bucket of such mammoth size. In this case my natural instinct was wrong, he'd bought this entire bucket for me. I asked him "are you not having any?" "No, i've had a sandwich, help yourself" he says...i think "alright, i'll give it a damn good go, because he has bought this for me and i don't want to upset him." So as i was chomping away merrily, heading to the tram stop, i suddenly realised i had almost eaten the entire bucket, only 2 pieces remained, i asked him again, politely he says "no, i insist, they're all yours." So again i'm thinking "alright...if you say so." As we get a seat on the tram i suddenly become increasingly more aware that this KFC bucket is getting smaller in content and that everyone's probably looking straight at me. So i say to Phil "you know, everyone's probably just looking at me thinking, 'look at that fat bastard, he's like a chicken boy or something' " to this Phil just bursts into laughter, he finds that comment forever hilarious and decides Chicken Boy is now my new nickname.

A few weeks pass, he calls me Chicken Boy, me, him and Kerry form a little Triad because we decided we're all friggin' awesome in each others company. We head out to a little restaraunt called Chiquito's, it's like a Mexican bar and grill type place and we get a booth seat. Our waitress heads on over and stops suddenly in between our order, "I'm sorry..." she says "but...don't i know you from somewhere? Aren't you called...Chicken Boy, or something?" To which, again, Phil bursts into laughter and forever finds this hilarious, although due to his hysterical state he says to the girl "oh-oh, i may have looked at you once!!" which really isn't the best thing to say, is it? (apparently she was sat behind us on the tram during the creation of my fat self.) After she heads off, i, being very drunk from the pub we previously visited before heading to the restaraunt, loudly mumble "wow, i fancy her even more, now!" but at that exact moment she actually came back...to my surprise, though, she thought Phil had said this and says to him "woah, restraining order for you :O!!" which Phil is still horrified about to this day. We still head to Chiquito's now and again and the girl (Chiquitette) is still around, i particular like when she welcomes us and says "hi Chicken Boy! :D".

Also, due to the awesomeness that is the TOA (Triad Of Awesome) i've decided to chronicle our epic adventures in doodle form! All your favourite characters in easy to see black and white, from Chicken Boy, Philly-Bob (his middle name is Robert, he hates that) and THE RAGE! (Kerry, who's actually called The Rage because she's very lovely.) I'll be posting these on this page whenever i so desire, so there!

So...yeah

The only reason i'm off work right now is because i'm totally ill, i've had some mad crazy flu for four days now, but i'm actually getting a bit better. Anyway he's not that great, but i've been wanting to edit him in Photoshop, make him all black and white film noir style, only recently my photoshop keeps unexpectedly quitting - it actually says that "Photoshop unexpectedly quit" it can't be that unexpected if it happens EVERY time, ya bastard. So i'm a little peeved right now, but anywho, i'll keep you updated on any goings on with the magazine and any new doodles or concepts i decide to draw.

Toodles!

Long Time No See

Hey, all.

I haven't been on here for 2 whole years, how about that? Not that any of you are still looking on my page and if you are you're all very sad, boring people who live extremely uneventful lives. But if you do still look on every now and again to see if i've arised from the grave, then i'm flattered (i know you don't. I'm just totally tootin' me old horn.)

So anyway the last time i posted i wasn't employed (but i was also 19 so you can't say shit), now i'm reposting i don't WANT to be employed, or at least i don't want to be employed here, where i am now, there's big shit goin' down, yo. The last time i posted here i was going to update with a huge talk on Time Travel shows and film, Quantum Leap, Doctor Who, Back To The Future, etc. And it was all saved on my old PC using a program that was built into Firefox which made blogging quite easy when i needed to. I've forgotten the name of that program but if anyone knows of which i speak then give me a tinkle and i'll try find that old post.

I can't promise anything, but i might start updating on this thing again...

Ciao for now.

Didn't your mother ever tell you to wear clean underwear in case you were run over?

What kind of clothes would you happily die in and live forever in in the afterlife?

Waste not, want not.

I want to be somebody but yet not be famous. I want to travel the world and experience different arts and cultures. I want to be an Artist and open a public gallery of my work. I want to be a professional photographer and work in photojournalism. I want to learn the guitar and be in a band. I want to sing. I want to read more than i do now, but read things i'm interested in but have never got round to reading about, like Quantum Mechanics. I want to fall madly in love with a girl who's in love with me. I want to make short films which make no sense yet i find amusing. I want to create my own Art portfolio website, and could do, i just haven't. I want to improve my drawing, and am currently getting better. I want to hear more artists like Bjork, Joanna Newsom and Isabeau Novak, getting the sense that they're their own person and just aren't copying somebody else. I want to write a book. I want to time travel in a Delorean, or a TARDIS. I want to be a philosopher and a scientist. I want to be an inventor.I want more money and a job where i feel i can express my creativity. I want a Nintendo Revolution.

Many ambitions, and i'm only 19. It reminds you of something from an after wedding buffet, only uncle Steve isn't chatting up your brothers girlfriend and there's no actual buffet.

No, this actually is the office Christmas party. Somehow i thought it'd be more glamorous, but as we sat down with our cheap paper hats and ate our poorly cooked turkey, i realised that this wasn't fun, but i was supposed to think it was.

I never wanted to go, the only reason i did was because my sister was also going and she thought it would be a nice idea if i made an "effort" to get to know people outside of work, only there wasn't much of that...i'll tell you what there was much of though, there was much of drunk people asking me to dance and FORCING me to go up there and shake my thing with them, only i made no real attempt to dance properly. I was the only sober person in that building, and i was thinking straight, i knew that if i danced like they wanted me to, i would be giving into them...giving into drunken peer pressure, i'd be as big as a fool as they.

After my boss had finished humiliating me with a little boogie, i hurridly sat back down to my chair, the DJ got a request for that new Sugababes song "Push The Button" and everyone ran to the floor, apart from me. Oh, speaking of the DJ, he was a total twat. "WOAH OH, LOOK AT THOSE, I THOUGHT I WAS ON A BOUNCY CASTLE!" he shouted through the microphone to one of the girls from work, everyone laughed...and i wondered why.
Anyway, getting back to the song, everyone had a partner and was ready to shake that ass, i watched them all from my comfortable seat and took note of two particular people who really didn't seem to be doing much dancing, it was more having sex only with clothes. She was physically grinding her arse into his groin and he was thrusting back, this went on for more than 5 minutes and they made no attempt to stop each other, they even began to get further and further down to the floor, if i didn't know better, i would've thought i was watching porn.

Anywho, after that i just gave up all together and stayed in my chair sat in the corner. My sister went off to find a friend she spotted and left me there for about an hour, she finally got back and decided it was time we left, which was the only good thing about the night.
We got outside and it was pouring it down with rain, and there was a huge line of people waiting for Taxi's, i suggested we go to Picaddily Station(Well done Stu!) and try get a taxi from there, my sister didn't seem pleased about walking in the rain, but it wasn't very far. We finally got there and the que was even bigger, but the thing about that area is the taxi's are always coming and going, so we got one in no time and my sister said what a good idea the walk was. Considering i never wanted to go, i thought it was also crap that i had to pay for the taxi, but i did as we pulled onto my street.

The ending to the night was uneventful, i think i just got a glass of cranberry juice and went to sleep, not even thinking about what kind of crap party i'd just been to. I thought i'd never have to see everyone from that party again, because the Thursday before that i'd finished working there. But come Tuesday, i got a phone call asking me to go back. And now i'm back at work, and thinking of people just not quite the same anymore.

Joanna Newsom's Harpe of Hearts

Joanna Newsom is fucking awesome. She's the person i've been listening to most latley.

You may know one of her songs; "This Side Of The Blue" from the Orange New York Blackout advert, it's a song that gives off a certain style of atmosphere, if you listen when you're in bed at night you could swear you were floating.
And she's not just a one trick pony, either, listen to "The Book Of Right On" and "The Sprout And The Bean" and you'll hear just how good she is. At first you'll think her high pitched voice seems a bit odd, but it works. After listening for a few days i totally fell in love with her voice, and the way she plays the harpe is just beautiful. Every strum of her finger just seems playful and sweet.
She's my artist of the year, and i highly reccomend her. GO LISTEN!

Coming next update will be a story of Office Christmas Party crapness.

Edit:
Also, found this: http://kcrw.com/cgi-bin/db/kcrw.pl?show_code=gz&air_date=02/26/05&tmplt_type=Show

if you have realplayer just click "Listen" it's a live interview with Joanna and she sings a few of her songs.

Truth.

I'm sorry i've not updated in forever, but i've not been very motivated to post on here latley. I fail at getting jobs, i fail at having qualifications to even attempt to get a job, so i'm going back to college hopefully. I'm signing up on a photography and fine art's course today, the art course should involve figure and portrait drawing and that's exactly what i want. Hopefully they'll let me on the course, this is a chance for me to get my life sorted and back to how it should be. Wish me luck!

I'll try update again soon with any news, and i'll update with any new artwork i do, but cheerio for now to anyone who still reads this.

Yesterday i got a new phone, i hardly ever used my previous phone it was an Ericsson T68i i think (see i don't even know.) and i didn't like it much. I got to thinking having a new phone would be a nice idea, the idea of it anyway, me having a phone is pointless if don't use them, but anyway i kept seeing posters and advertisements of the Sony Ericsson K750i. This phone is awesome. Radio, Mp3 playback, 3D Java games, 2.0 Megapixel camera and also records video, a phone like that you'd expect it to be HUGE, but it's not! It's thin and it's tiny.
I always wondered why you would need all this stuff on a phone, a phone is just for ringing people and receiving phone calls, but with this...none of that matters anymore, i've not called anyone at all, i did give Warren a text to see if i actually could but apart from that i've just been using the camera, because this camera is basically a digital camera anyway, i've been uploading my pictures to my computer and i've been having so much fun with it(i'm sure this will wear off soon).

Anywho, i don't know why i bought a phone, i don't need a phone. But i'm glad i now have this phone. I was all for just receiving money for my birthday and shoving it in the bank, i told Dad it was pointless me having a phone and for some reason he disagreed, but i'm glad he did.

Also yesterday we went to "The English Lounge" for a meal here in Manchester, we ordered starters and a main meal. Dad, Mum and I ordered soup for a starter which was sweet and sour mushroom(was gorgeous.) Gary (My brother) ordered nachos. We got our starters, we had about 8 loafs of bread with our soup...seriously, there was lots of bread, and Gary's nachos came in the biggest dish i've ever seen, these weren't any ordinary starters, this was a feast fit enough for King Henry Eighth.
Anyway, after we stuffed ourselves with the starters, me having to do so twice cos' Gary needed help eating his, our main meals finally arrived. I had ordered a steak with mozarella cheese on top, Dad ordered a steak also, sirloin i think. Mum ordered some kind of chicken sandwhich with slices of chicken fillet and some kind of dressing sprinkled on, and Gary ordered Chicken Pasta...we thought the starters were huge, oh no. We were wrong, these plates were gigantic, and also to top it off (because we'd never been there before) we'd asked for some SIDE ORDERS of Garlic Bread, Onion rings and Chips, my god we wish we didn't. The meal was absoloutley gorgeous but none of us could finish, we totally over faced ourselves, at least we know next time to just go for a main though, or share a starter.

Gary said afterwards that everything we ordered was "American Portions" and i don't know if that's true, but if Americans eat all that on a daily basis then....well...i'll say no more.

Just who do you think you are?

David Tennant's outfit looks awesome for the new Doctor Who. I can't wait until Christmas for the next series to start.

I remember when i was little and it was Christmas, Doctor Who always used to be on, of course they were repeats then because it was the 90's but because of those repeats it started my fascination with Doctor Who and time travel, i've always loved the idea of time travel, if i had a time machine or a ways of going back to the past then i definitely would've done a few things differently. I can't wait, really, the new series is gonna be awesome, i really think Tennant is going to be a great Doctor. Eccleston was amazing but Tennant is going to be bloody good, especially looking like that.
Does anyone know if it's true that Billie won't appear much in the new series? I'd really hate that. I think Rose is a great character and Billie is a really good actress, it wouldn't be the same without her.

Anywho, i'm off to fill in some more Job Application forms, i got rejected from Asda today...Asda! But it did malfunction just like Hal 9000. Well...it didn't kill anyone or anything, but it does have a screw loose. I'm annoyed, i've lost everything, i have to re-find my favourite websites, re-download all my music and find all the pictures i had stored that i was planning on getting ideas for drawings from, i have to yet again put my Columbo on hold just so i can find the picture i was using. As soon as i get a job and enough money i'm gonna get me a Mac.

I curse Hal.dll and i curse 2001 for an odd ending, so i'm gonna go watch 2010.

Sister rang again, apparently the girl decided she did want the job and i won't even be getting an interview again now. And she asked me if i would be interested and told me what the job would involve.
I'd pretty much be an errand boy, and have to answer phones every once in a while and i don't mind really, it's experience working in an office environment anyway, she said she'll ring me within the next few days to give me an update. Apparently someone else is going in for the job too, but they "aren't sure" whether they want it or not? I don't get that. If they're not sure why are they even going in for it in the first place?
Anywho, i hope i do ok in the interview because it would be pretty handy working in a place with someone i knew, especially it being my sister. I'll update with any news on this soon.

In other news, i went to the bakery today and asked for one small brown sliced loaf and one big brown sliced loaf.I watched her slice them, as i was paying for them i was ten pence short and i thought Dad hadn't give me enough money or something, i didn't take note of the sizes of the bread. I get home and Mum tells me they're white and both are big. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!

oops

Oh Noez, what have i done?

My friend Warren is having a bit of a problem me thinks:
http://urban-warren.blogspot.com/2005/07/wonderfull-world-of-frijj-well-it-used.html

Konfabulations

Go to http://www.konfabulator.com/cartoon/partOne.html For a great free program that works with Widgets!
Widgets basically can be designed to do ANYTHING. Of course i thought "550 MARANELLO!!" instantly, for that has been forever my dream car (i'm not much of a car fan, but i do adore that car.) But then i got to wondering if they still sold those, cos' it's a bit old now...but to my surprise when we arrived, it was there! And i touched it! Warren said to the guy "Can't possibly afford one, but no harm if i look is there?" the guy did look as though he was going to say "GET OUT!" but fortunatley he let us in, unfortunatley though we couldn't get inside the cars =(.
BUT STILL, i touched my dream car! Of course doing so greatly depressed me considering i'd never be able to afford it, but ah well.

Ridicule is nothing to be scared of...

... I can't really believe something like this could've happened when we claimed we were on "high alert". They even stated that they expected it to happen, it just all seems so ridiculous to me. I don't actually know the result of the G8 Summit on the subject of poverty, too, what's going to happen about that now? Has it just been postponed to another date because of what happened today?

In other news it seems i won't be getting that job after all. I received a letter today basically rejecting me, so i'll have to start looking again...i'm quite annoyed really because i was looking forward to working there, i shouldn't complain though, i know i could have it much worse, and i'll try pick myself up.

Oh jesus, i know i've not updated in so long, i've been real busy. I should have a job soon!! Had an interview the other week and it's all being sorted out now, i'll be somewhat of an IT Consultant, starting off on the phones and working my way up, i'm hoping to become an engineer but i can't actually drive yet so i think i'd pretty mcuh fail in attempts to getting to peoples houses.

In other news DOCTOR WHO'S OVER! :( :(:( how crap, Saturday's aren't the same at all. I miss Billie, i miss Chris, even if he did regenerate into David at the last episode. I can't wait for it to come back, and Tennant is a very good actor from what i seen of him in Cassanova, so i'm sure he'll be fine as The Doctor, not as good as Christopher i predict but still very good.
Also in other news, i get to see Oasis on Thursday! Well i'm back from a while of not updating. I know i said i'd update with drawings but...ok, i'm a liar :( but jesus...these past few days my computer has been terrible and i formatted today and re-installed everything but my sound was gone and my display settings for my monitor have also gone, that includes the knowledge of my graphics card for some reason and that also means that everything i'm viewing is really slow and laggy. This is terrible and i hope i get it fixed soon and i WILL update as soon as it gets fixed.

In other news my Mum and Dad have gone away until Tuesday and i'm alone in the house until then, with an oven i'm not entirely sure how to use properly...god, i hate being male.

Being from Manchester, it's safe to say i know who Oasis are. I've followed them nearly all my life, i've grown up with the Gallagher brothers and today sees the release of their sixth album. From what i've heard so far...it's pretty different, bar from Lyla and A Bell Will Ring which are typical hard rocky Oasis.

I've not actually bought the album, having no money...but my brother will be buying it at the weekend so i'll be able to have a proper listen then. I'll also be going to see a concert at the Manchester city stadium in July which i'm looking forward to immensly, i've only ever seen them once and that was amazing being the first time i'd seen them an all, but i heard from other more avid oasis concert goers that it wasn't their best performance and my friend Stu recently went to an Oasis concert in London and told me they're on top form. So i'm really looking forward to July.

Ah jesus, i'm sorry i've not been updating as much latley, just i've been drawing a bit too much and because of that i tend to stay up late and wake up late =\, mm it doesn't really matter anyway...i think Katy's my actual only "viewer" =P I'll try update soon, with drawings!

So woo!! I saw Star Wars, all though it was like 2 days ago now i'm still totally hyped, i can't wait to buy it when it comes out. Seriously it was awesome, so so awesome. I'd go as far as to say i think it was perfect, it was the best of the new trilogy and in the same league as the old. If you haven't seen it yet, i urge you to you won't be dissapointed.

Seeing Star Wars everywhere latley, and then to go see it in the cinema, i now have the biggest urge to start playing Jedi Outcast which is an EXCELLENT game. I used to play Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 on multiplayer some years ago, and Jedi Outcast is just as good as that if not better with the revamped graphics and the different saber stances...ah, saber stances, there's a certain move in Jedi Outcast called "Death From Above" and i saw someone do it in Episode 2! Also in Episode 3, Anakin takes on a certain stance sometimes that just reminds me of the game...ah anyway i'll stop rambling now, i'll update with a new drawing soon!

this is an update of the Liv Tyler picture i'm doing. Lack of motivation, laziness..whatever you want to call it, i just can't seem to bring pencil to paper.

For a while now i've been saying "i'm gonna get into drawing again, and i'm gonna start and i'll not stop this time, oh no." And right now i've sharpened a pencil, opened my sketch book and that's it. I've got no further. See i'm not happy, i'm not happy with my drawing ability, i'm not as good as i ultimatley want to be and i don't want to wait until i get that good, i want it now. I don't want to what i see as "waste my time" doing all that practicing thing, i like art, i like drawing. So why don't i just naturally have the ability, why?

I'm envious of people who just seem to be able to draw like that "oh you see that picture of Orlando Bloom? I can draw that and it'll look exactly the same as the photo" well good for you, you showoff. I want to do that, i SHOULD be able to do that...i know "practice makes perfect" but it shouldn't, if i'm so passionate about it i should already have the ability.

Not being able to see Revenge Of The Sith until next Wednesday, i've decided to download the whole "Clone Wars" series, i was told that the clone wars take place between episode 2 and 3 so this should entertain me for the time being. Or does it? I was wondering if the voice of Darth Vader IS still going to be done by James Earl Jones? I don't see any reason why it shouldn't, i'm just curious if it is or not. But anyway, i won't be able to see the new movie for another week =( and it'll kill me to hear everyone going "OMFG IT WAS AMAZING!" before i've seen it, it might make me expect too much, and i don't want to do that just in case it isn't as good as the older three. Because i know The Phantom Menace was appalling, and Attack Of The Clones was good...just it didn't have the same feel of the older ones, i'm not saying the new movie is going to dissapoint me but if people keep telling me it's amazing and then i don't feel that, then unfortunatley i'm destined to be a little dissapointed.

I'm sure it'll be awesome, though

Ah, Kylie Minogue, i can't say i really know the names of even half of her songs but whenever i hear one of them i can sing along. Now...this is probably my best Indiana Jones film of the three, and one of the main reasons is because of Indiana's relationship with his father (played by Sean Connery). There's a bit in the film where Indiana falls off the side of a cliff whilst riding on the back of a tank with the Nazi enemy, Henry Jones(Indy's father) doesn't know that Indy survived the crash, and looks over the edge in horror as the tank explodes. What follows for me is such a powerful expression of emotion from Henry as he realises that his relationship with his son wasn't all that he wish it was, that he wishes he had expressed his true feelings for him...the words "Oh, god. I've lost him" bring a tear to my eye every time, and when Indy climbs back over the cliff edge and is standing behind Henry looking over with him, i just can't wait to see the joy in Henry's face when he realises Indiana is still alive, as he hugs him and says "I thought i'd lost you, boy" that tear rolls down my cheek.

On Saturday as usual i watched Doctor Who.
